The Development Trend of Digital Sensors in the Internet of Things Era

Time:2022-04-09

The development trend of digital sensors in the Internet of Things era, the Internet of Things era has arrived. There is no doubt that behind the Internet of Everything is digitalization, and the core of everything is the sensor. The concept of sensors has been around for years, but it's still an area of unlimited potential. As the concept of the Internet of Things heats up, the export of sensors has also ignited a boom in the capital market of the semiconductor packaging industry.

Four development directions of sensors:

1. Miniaturization

Miniaturization is one of the inevitable trends in the development of sensors in the future. Sensors are essentially semiconductors. From the point of view of production and processing, the size of the sensor determines the utilization of raw materials. The miniaturization of sensors represents a reduction in production costs. In terms of performance, the energy consumption of the microsensor is significantly reduced. From a product perspective, reducing sensors frees up more space and indirectly improves the end-user experience of the product.

2. Flexibility

The main purpose of sensor flexibility is portability, bionics, and integration. Portability is mainly based on the development of flexible electronics, which aims to change the rigid structure of electronic components, break through product design, and fold the shape for easy portability and use. The bionic direction is to simulate human skin through flexible sensors to provide energy for the recognition of robots.

3. Passive wireless

The existence of power supply and wires has great restrictions on the application environment of the sensor. The complex mechanical and human structures of many industrial and medical solutions do not match the power and wiring layout of the sensors. Mainstream thinking is mainly to solve passive problems. As long as the passive problem is solved, wireless communication only requires the installation of a WiFi or Bluetooth module (if power support is available). In addition, the use of bioelectricity, triboelectricity, etc. to harvest energy, power generation lines to provide sensors also exist, but it is still in the laboratory stage.

4. Induction fusion

Sensor integration in the industry is mainly based on data collection mode and sensor technology structure, hardware integration of similar sensors through specific algorithms to correct and optimize data and reduce confusion. The cooperation between sensors, complementary performance, provides users with richer functions and provides greater business value for the consumer electronics industry.

Seizing investment opportunities mainly depends on improving efficiency and future market space. The main function of the sensor is to collect information, and the sensor will have more room for development in the future. It will enter every aspect of life and provide convenience for people.
